Food Intolerance Test

Consumption of certain foods can have profound effects on the physical and mental health of susceptible individuals. Up to 45% of the population is estimated to suffer from food intolerance, but unlike food allergies, food intolerance is unlikely to be life threatening. Food intolerance is associated with a wide range of unpleasant symptoms and many chronic conditions.

Studies have revealed a close link between food-specific antibodies (produced by the body’s immune system) and symptoms of food intolerance.

In normal circumstances, these antibodies combine with proteins in the food to form complexes, which are then eliminated by the immune system. However, if the immune system is overwhelmed or over-worked, then complexes can accumulate and produce symptoms of food intolerance.

Symptoms of food intolerance and affected locations:

  • respiratory: rhinitis, sinusitis, and asthma;
  • musculoskeletal: arthritis, joint pains, aching muscles and weakness;
  • gastrointestinal: vomiting, abdominal bloating, cramping, excessive wind, water retention, nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, and weight control problems;
  • central nervous system: migraine, headache, impaired concentration, mood and behavioural changes, depression, anxiety, fatigue and hyperactivity;
  • dermatological: urticaria, atopic dermatitis, eczema, itchy skin, and other rashes;

Often, the symptoms appear a while after eating the offending food, which makes it very difficult to pinpoint which foods could be causing the symptoms. A diet that eliminates the problem foods (strong and moderate intolerance) will often be enough to prevent the onset of symptoms.

Food Detective™ test, developed by Cambridge Nutritional Sciences Ltd., determines 46 foods or food groups that cause food intolerance. Reaction to particular food can be absent, mild, moderate, or strong.

Food intolerance test can be performed at the office of Sports Gene Llc or at our cooperation partners. For that purpose, it is necessary to take a few drops of blood from your fingertip. The results will be available within an hour, but you do not have to stay and wait for the results.  We will send you the results by e-mail.

When ordering food intolerance test with nutrition consultation, the package contains one meeting with the nutritionist (max 60 min), meal plan for 5 days, based on the results of food intolerance test, and feedback by e-mail or skype.
